F.M. Josue
Josue’s passion for volleyball began in 1981 when Maurice Shimabuku introduced him to the dynamic sport. Upon his graduation in 1985, his career in coaching began at Hueneme High School where he served as both JV head coach as well as Varsity assistant coach under his mentor, Head Coach Shimabuku. One of the highlights at Hueneme was winning the state championship in 1986 against heavily favored Mira Costa. He also coached for Carpinteria High School for two seasons (‘88 & ‘89) as both their JV and Varsity coach. Josue’s volleyball club career started in 1989 when he coached for the Ojai Volleyball Club. He then coached for Channel Islands Volleyball Club for 17 years for both girls’ and boys’ teams. His career with California Heat began in 2008 with the 16’s “FIRE” team. Josue was the Ventura College women’s volleyball assistant coach from 1990 thru the 2007 season. Josue was also involved with the United States Youth Volleyball League where he served as Head Clinician for the 2007 Fall season. He also served as an assistant coach to the 2008 High Performance Youth Blue Team / So Cal Section. Josue has a Level 1 & 2 CAP (Coaching Accreditation Program) Certification and is also Impact Certified. Josue’s playing career started at Santa Barbara City College and continued into beach volleyball and grass volleyball where he was champion in both Men’s Open and Reverse Co-Ed Open divisions at the annual CBVA “California Cup”. Josue has been most fortunate to have had volleyball legends such as Sharon McAlexander and Miki McFadden as his mentors. He owes much of his volleyball knowledge and passion for the sport to both of these women and also to “Uncle Mo” Shimabuku. Josue is blissfully married to Sue and has 4 children, Emarson, Darin, Ryder & Mika.

Kristin Paris
Kristin has been involved in volleyball for over ten years. Kristin began playing volleyball competitively in the eight grade, at the age of 13. She played for Channel Islands Volleyball Club for four years. Kristin attended Buena High School where she played volleyball all four years and also ran track. She received a variety of volleyball awards including: Defensive Specialist Award, Steppin It Up, Scholar Award, and Top Ad Sales. During High School she was a coach for Anacapa Middle School for the City of Ventura’s Middle School Volleyball Program. Since working for the City of Ventura, Kristin worked with all ages of children in numerous programs and activities the City of Ventura offered. Since playing volleyball in high school, Kristin has participated in grass tournaments and in the City of Ventura Corporate Games. In Corporate Games Indoor Volleyball her team brought home the Bronze medal for 2006 & 2007 and the Gold medal for Beach Volleyball in 2007. Kristin coached the Frosh/Soph Volleyball Team at Santa Clara High School in the Fall 2007 season, with an 8-3 overall record including 6-1 in league. The 2008 Club season Kristin coached for California Heat Volleyball Club. Her team, 16-Force, finished ranked 77th out of 181 teams at the Volleyball Festival held in Reno, Nevada.
Kristin graduated from Ventura College in May 2005 with an Associates Degree in Arts. She then graduated from California State University Channel Islands in May 2007 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration. Kristin is currently completing her Masters Degree in Business Administration at California Lutheran University. While going to school full-time and coaching, Kristin manages a defense law firm. She currently resides in Ventura, California.

Chip Tarleton
Chip has a diverse background in sports. He attended Oxnard High School and while there he participated in Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Track & Field. He then went on to play football at Ventura College on a team with a number two ranking in the nation. Continuing his football career, he went on to San Jose State University on a full ride football scholarship where he graduated with a Bachelors degree in Architecture. Since then he has worked for the City of Ventura as the Adult Sports Specialist and Coordinator from 1989-1999. Then in 2001 became a Youth Sports Supervisor, where he remains today. One of the many sports programs that Chip oversees is the City of Ventura’s Middle School Volleyball program. He is the Supervisor and a coach.
In 2001, Chip was the CBVA (California Beach Volleyball Association) Tournament Director. He coached for Channel Islands Volleyball Club from 2001 to 2007 ranging in ages from 12 to 16. He has been very active with USA Volleyball High Performance Program and SCVA High Performance Volleyball since 2006. He is USA Volleyball certified with IMPACT, CAP 1, and CAP 2 (pending). He is also a certified USA Volleyball Conditioning Accreditation Program Coach. Chip is a certified Youth Sports Administrator from the National Association for Youth Sports. He is also an Athletic Performance Enhancement trainer. For the Fall 2007 season Chip was the Buena High School Girls Frosh/Soph Volleyball coach where his team compiled a 12-2 record. Lindsey Terry
Lindsey Terry was born and raised in Ventura, California. An alumn of Buena High School, by her sophomore year, she was a starter on both Buena high school’s basketball and volleyball teams. She played her first year of club with Calabasas Renegades 16-1’s team, but moved up to their 18-1’s team to play in all of the major tournaments toward the end of the season. Ultimately Lindsey was a part of the team Renegades 18-1 team that came in 5th place at the Junior National tournament in New Orleans, LA. For her junior year at Buena, Lindsey chose to play for the #1 ranked volleyball club team in the nation for 2000, Asics Nova out of Long Beach, California. During her year with Asics Nova volleyball club, her team won the Las Vegas invitational tournament, came in second at the Crossroads Invitational tournament in Denver, Colorado, and among other tournament wins, received the Bronze Medal at the Junior National tournament in Louisville, KY. During the summer between her junior and senior year, Lindsey and her partner were California Open Grass Tournament Champions. Lindsey’s senior year was filled with many accomplishments at Buena such as volleyball CIF semi-finals, and homecoming princess, along being recruited by numerous colleges throughout the country for both basketball and volleyball. She chose to play for SportsShack Volleyball club in Los Angles, CA. Again, her team came in first at the Las Vegas Invitational tournament, and also came in third place at the Davis Volleyball Festival, the largest volleyball tournament in the Western Hemisphere, at the time. She chose to accept a full volleyball scholarship to California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), San Luis Obispo.
Lindsey was a starting middle blocker in her first season at Cal Poly, and helped her team advance to the NCAA tournament for the first time in two years. The Big West Conference voted her onto an All-Conference team that season also. Unfortunately, due to an injury, Lindsey was unable to compete the following years. This blessing in disguise helped her to accumulate valuable amount of experience as a volleyball coach. She was invited to assistant coach the Cal Poly’s Division I volleyball team for three years, Coaching under former Coach of the Year, Jon Stevenson. Lindsey also accepted a position as head coach Cal Poly’s college club volleyball team. She also coached multiple middle school volleyball teams while earning her degree in San Luis Obispo, and assisted in numerous volleyball clinics put on by Cal Poly throughout northern California. After finishing her bachelors degree in Kinesiology (similar to sports medicine) with a minor in psychology, she furthered her education and received a Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration.
Lindsey currently is a middle school teacher, middle school ASB advisor, high school varsity volleyball coach, and middle school/high school girls athletic director for Cornerstone Christian School in Camarillo, CA.

Matt Dawson
Matt has been involved in volleyball for eight years. Primarily a defensive specialist, he graduated from Camarillo High School in 2005 where he received such honors as: 2nd team all Pacific View (2004), 1st team all Pacific View (2005), Academic CIF champion team (2005), Scholar athlete (2005), CIF Victory with Honor award recipient (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005), CIF semi-finalist (2004). In his first season coaching at Camarillo High, his girls’ frosh/soph team went undefeated at 16-0 with a tournament win. He plans to continue coaching boys and girls at Camarillo High, and although this will be his first season coaching with California Heat VBC, he greets it with great enthusiasm!
Matt is currently enrolled at California State University Channel Islands, where he is majoring in Mathematics. He is close to finishing his degree, and upon completion will go into the Credential program, with the goal of becoming a high school teacher. Other than volleyball, Matt’s hobbies include playing drums, listening to music, and Mexican food!

Jill Changaris Muhe
Jill is the Oxnard College Assistant Women's Volleyball Coach. Jill's head coaching experience includes Calabasas High School Varsity Boys coach and multiple head club coaching positions. In addition to experience as Pierce College and UC Davis's assistant coach. Changaris was an outside hitter at UC-Davis from 1993-96. Changaris was all-Region in 1995 and 96. Also names the conference MVP in 1996 when her team finished ranked 21st nationally. She left the school with her name in the top five career kills, digs, and aces. Jill has seven years playing experience on the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour where she competed against some of the top women in the world including Holly McPeak, Kerri Walsh-Jennings, and Misty May-Treanor; before retiring in August of '07.
Relocating to the area from West Los Angeles, originally from Walnut Creek California, she has lived in Southern California for the past 10 years. Her education includes a BS degree in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Biomechanics from UC Davis and a MBA with an emphasis in Marketing from the University of LaVerne.
Currenly she is the Head Athletic Trainer at Oxnard College. Jill began as the Athletic Trainer at Oxnard College in August, 2005. Jill's experience includes working as an Athletic Trainer at Disneyland, Pierce College, Mission College, and UC Davis. She is a presenter for the LA84 Foundation and a retired Professional Beach Volleyball player.
